Once again thanks go out to all the racers who participated in the third race of the season at Need For Speed Model Car Raceway and to Ralph, Joe and the rest of the crew at NFS for having the facility in its usual well-prepped condition..
Eighteen Novice Group 10 racers kicked off the day's racing on the Engleman., our largest Novice field to date. Standing atop the podium when all was said and done were Nicholas Vaudo, Noah Ball and Max Davidowitz, with Horace Gibbs and Taylor Grimard rounding out the top five.
The Senior Group 10 race on the Trigilio was an action-packed event for the eighteen racers who challenged this deceptively simple flat track, with many changes in the running order as Murphy, mechanical issues and traffic played their usual hand in determining the event's final outcome. Patience, car care and experience paid off in the end for Joseph Mazzulo, Cody Swan, Joe Mazzulo, Rich Audet and Mike Clark.
4.5" Stockcars were next up on the agenda, with a field of fourteen (another largest field to date) taking to the Engleman to battle it out for the top spot. Cody Swan took down the win, followed by Michael Provost, Joseph Mazzulo, James Grandi and Joe Mazzulo.
Outlaw Group 10 on the re-braided 100' Hillclimb was next up. With lap times as low as 3.1 seconds, the action was fast and furious on this tight little track as twenty-one racers focused more on a "make laps and keep it running" mentality rather than "gotta be fastest." That strategy paid off for Nate Teto, Joseph Mazzulo, Rich Audet, Ralph Griffin and Michael Provost. Right up until the final countdown it was anybody's race, coming down to a mere section at times to determine the final finishing order.
The action moved back to the Engleman for GTP, with twelve racers declaring themselves up for the final test of driving ability, stamina and alertness at the end of an adrenaline-packed day. In the end it was Joseph Mazzulo taking down the win, followed by Mike Provost, Nate Teto, Cody Swan and Joe Mazzulo.
Next up on the schedule is Slot Car Emporium on December 13th. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
